Jason Chatfield is a cartoonist, comedian, and writer whose work appears regularly in The New Yorker, MAD Magazine, Esquire, Variety, The Weekly Humorist, American Bystander, Wired, and Air Mail. His art has been exhibited in France, the UK, Australia, and across the United States, and featured in books published by Penguin Random House, Harper Collins, and Humorist Media. His latest book was released by Andrews McMeel Publishing in Spring 2025.
For 16 years, Chatfield has written and illustrated Ginger Meggs, the 102-year-old comic strip distributed daily through Andrews McMeel Syndication to newspapers worldwide. He serves as the portrait illustrator for Waking Up, Sam Harris award-winning meditation app.
Chatfield has held leadership roles in both major cartooning organisations, serving as President of the National Cartoonists Society (Est. 1946) and the Australian Cartoonists Association (established 1924). He remains the youngest cartoonist to hold either position.
His weekly newsletter New York Cartoons was selected as one of Substack's Featured Publications for both 2023 and 2024, reaching over 19,000 subscribers each week.
As a stand-up comedian for 18 years, Chatfield appears on HBO Max as judge and host of Buddy Vs. Christmas alongside Buddy "Cake Boss" Valastro.
