John Lynn

John discovered comedy after visiting a Dublin comedy club and quickly found his footing in the Irish stand-up scene. His relaxed delivery and natural stage presence made an immediate impact, leading to an appearance on RTE's The Liffey Laugh just eight months after his first gig - an unusual achievement for someone so new to comedy. This early television exposure opened doors to significant opportunities. John joined Irish comedian PJ Gallagher as a special guest on his national tour, then performed alongside Tommy Tiernan in the Third Policeman's Ball, a tribute to Irish writer Flann O'Brian. The show was recorded at Dublin's Vicar Street and released on DVD in 2009, establishing John as a serious performer. He later appeared on BBC's One Night Stand, further building his profile. These successes prompted John to leave his career as a secondary school teacher and pursue comedy full-time. He also enrolled at the Irish Films Actors Studio to train for screen work, dividing his time between acting and stand-up. John's growing reputation earned him an invitation to the prestigious Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival. International work followed, including tours in South Africa during the Lions Tour and performances across America, Europe and the Middle East. He became a regular at the Kilkenny Cat Laughs festival and made his Edinburgh Fringe debut in 2011 with his solo show Social Networking. In 2012 and 2013, he toured the UK as special guest for Tom Stade, performing to sold-out venues nationwide. John returned to Edinburgh in 2015 with his second solo show. His screen work includes the romantic fantasy film Earthbound (2013) alongside Rafe Spall, and Satellites and Meteorites (2009) for I-Wire Films. Television credits span multiple Irish networks: Be More Ethnic (BBC 3), One Night Stand (BBC NI), Stand and Deliver (RTE), Republic of Telly (RTE), Podge and Rodge (RTE), The Apprentice: Your Fired (TV3), The Craig Doyle Show (RTE ONE), and Butchers (RTE), where he plays Enda. John also created Meet Mike, Ireland's first internet mini-series, which he wrote and starred in. The show received multiple award nominations including the Golden Spiders and Digital Media awards, winning an ICAD and three APMC Awards. His theatre credits include Bush in Robert Massey's Rank for the Dublin Theatre Festival, which transferred to London's Tricycle Theatre, and Lane Productions' staging of Massey's Deadline. Currently based in London, John has signed a development deal with NBC Universal for his first stand-up DVD. He recently completed his first novel after earning a place on The University of East Anglia's creative writing programme. He performs regularly at major UK comedy clubs including weekends at The Comedy Store, continuing to develop his career on the British comedy circuit.
