Andrew Hamilton's journey into comedy began under unusual circumstances. In 2021, Andrew spent four months in two of Sydney’s maximum-security prisons for the commercial supply of psychedelic drugs. It was during his incarceration that he discovered the power of laughter, realising its ability to transport and uplift even in the darkest of times.
Upon his release, Andrew took up stand-up comedy, initially performing under strict bail conditions that required his parents to accompany him to shows and adhere to a curfew. Despite these constraints, he quickly became a regular in Sydney comedy clubs, earning recognition for his unique perspective and humour.
Andrew's debut solo show, "Jokes About the Time I Went to Prison," was critically acclaimed and earned him a nomination for Best Newcomer at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. He has also completed sold-out shows at the Sydney Comedy Festival and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
In addition to his stand-up career, Andrew has a significant following on social media, particularly on TikTok and Instagram, where he shares his comedic insights and stories.
Andrew Hamilton's book, "The Profound Benefits of a Stint in Prison," offers a deeper look into his experiences and the transformative power of humour.
